Strafford Win 115 is Another State Title

by: Dan Molloy, Ozarks First

The Strafford dynasty may not last forever, but it will never be forgotten.

The Lady Indians made sure of that this season, extending their own state-record win streak all the way to JQH Arena, finishing a magnificent four-year championship run with their 115th consecutive win, a 61-53 triumph over Luthern North in the Class 3 title game.

On the day senior Hayley Frank earned her second straight Gatorade Missouri Player of the Year honor, the do-it-all Strafford put a final feather in her high school cap. She scored 20 points in the second half to finish with 34 and a career total of 3,004. Her 11 rebounds Saturday added to her own state record, finishing with 1,629 for her career.

When Hayley Frank subbed out in the final minute, she embraced her twin sister Kayley and fellow seniors Kyndall Compton and Madison Chittenden, all four-time state champions.

“Me, Kayley and Kyndall were coaches’ kids growing up and we watched our dads’ teams go through it. We wanted to win a state championship so bad,” Hayley Frank said. “We got that the first year, and then to keep doing it these last four years has been so, so incredible.”

This most distinguished senior class is graduating with four championships, but the Lady Indians are not ready to say their dynasty will end any time soon.

“I wouldn’t count these younger girls out,” senior Madison Chittenden said. They put in just as much work, sometimes more work than us. I think next year, that’s going to show.”
