Cornerstone Bank was scheduled to open a new location in Harrison in mid-January but wet weather has put them approximately 30 days behind schedule.

The interior of the building is about 95% complete but outdoor work has been hindered by the wet winter weather. Charlie Cross, owner of Cornerstone Bank, said they hope to have the new location open by the first or second week of February.

Sr. Vice President Nate Wilson said Cornerstone Bank has not only invested in a new bank location but has plans to develop 13 acres of land behind the bank with new retail space. Cornerstone will build some space for lease, but Wilson said there are larger businesses interested in leasing land to build locations in Harrison as well. Wilson hopes Cornerstone’s efforts will provide a bank truly focused on community service and bring more businesses to town.

Cross said the new facility will be 9,100 square feet with two levels. It will offer services such as standard banking, an in-house investment arm, home mortgage division, and smart ATMs. Smart ATMs allow customers to conduct bank transactions after hours such as deposits, transfers, standard withdraws and more.

Cross said, “We’ve invested heavily in technology.” In addition to the new location Cornerstone Bank is close to unveiling a new website that will allow customers the ability to open accounts online, perform bank to bank transfers, and conduct other bank transactions from anywhere in the world. Cornerstone already has a free mobile app that has many of these features available for smart phones.
