An Ozarks man reported missing, then found with injuries and now police are working to figure out what happened.
Mark Mitchell’s family said he was last seen Thursday morning at the Kum N Go on Republic Road near Campbell Avenue.
12 hours later officers found him in Monett.
The Springfield Police Department sent Ozarks First a release on Friday.
According to that release, officers immediately began searching for Mitchell after he went missing.
He was eventually located by Monett police officers and transported back to Springfield, where he received medical attention for minor injuries.
Lieutenant Bruce Belin at the Billings Police Department told KOLR10 when he first found the phone at around 1:45 Thursday afternoon, he thought it was just debris on the roads.
He walked over, found out it was a cell phone, a flip phone and it began to ring.
It was the Springfield Police Department looking for Mr. Mitchell.
“So later on his family came here and met with the police department, and began to review video from local businesses and looking for some evidence of where he might be, because this is totally out of character and unlike anything that’s ever happened before,” said Lieutenant Belin, “we looked at it, and started talking to people, and realized something was wrong.”
According to the Springfield Police Department’s statement, due to the ongoing investigation, they will not be releasing any additional information at this time.
KOLR10 will continue to follow this story.
