Missouri residents can take part in a national hiking event on New Year’s Day, 2019.
Missouri State Parks will host 34 free guided hikes at 31 locations on Jan. 1, 2019. Park officials in all 50 states will host similar events, a press release from Missouri State Parks said
“First Day Hikes is a national event encouraging friends and families to push back from the dinner table, turn off the television and take a hike in their favorite state park,” Ben Ellis, director of the Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks said in the press release.
Last year, over 54,000 people took part in the hikes across the country, the press release said.
In Ozark Mountain Country, two hikes will take place at Table Rock State Park in Branson from 10-Noon and at Roaring River State Park near Cassville from 2-4.
