A couple of doctors at Cox Medical Center in Branson went bald for a worthy cause on Friday.

The brave doctors had their heads completely shaved in order to make Christmas a little brighter for a child in need.

It was all a part of raising money for the “Toys for Tots” charity.

Motivated by their love for kids — Dr. Shawn Usery, Chief Medical Officer at Cox/Branson and Dr. Todd Baker, Chief of Medical Staff, went completely bald — in front of a live audience, as part of a challenge. The two doctors asked health providers to donate to “Toys for Tots” and they promised to shave their heads if they raised at least $3500 for the charity.

The money came in and the hair came off.

“When you look around Southwest Missouri, the Branson area in particular, you see a huge need this time of year. everything from clothes, to toys, to personal hygiene products. We want to do our little bit,” said Dr. Usery.

“We gotta support the kids… you know,” said Dr. Baker, “It’s a good way that we can do something festive and do something fun and hopefully the hair grows back, you know.”

“I think this shows a lot of dedication and support for our community..especially for the children in our community,” said Adrianna Lucas, Executive Director for “Love in the Name of Christ.”

The doctors raised $3500 alone — and volunteers raised a few hundred more.
