Cox dedicated a pediatric room in the name of fallen Missouri Highway Patrol Officer Corporal John “Jay” Sampietro Jr. who died directing traffic in 2005.

This was thanks to a special donation of $10,000 from the family of Sampietro’s Supervisor Sargent Al Raetz and his wife Sussie of Taney County.

The dedication happened in the children’s wing of Cox South and was accompanied by the delivery of all the toys donated during the 12th Annual Sampietro Jr. Toy Drive which also named for the fallen trooper.

Jennifer Sampietro, the wife of the fallen trooper says she got the news of the donation on her and her late husband’s anniversary.

Sponsors of this toy drive included Krispy Kreme, Cox Health, and Poly-Fab Plastics.
