Ron Herschend, who was a part of the family business in addition to a two term Taney County Commissioner, passed away Tuesday at the age of 60.
Herschend, whose father Jack and uncle Pete are the co-founders of Herschend Family Entertainment, worked in many different areas of the family business especially at Silver Dollar City, White Water and the Grand Village.
Herschend also served the area in other capacities, most notably as Western Taney County Commissioner where he served two terms from 2001-09. Herschend ran for several other offices including a recent run for Taney County Presiding Commissioner. He was defeated in that four- person Republican Primary race by incumbent Presiding Commissioner Mike Scofield in August.
Ron Herschend is the second member of the family to pass away in the last month as his Aunt Jo Dee Herschend passed away in November after a long battle with Cancer.
Herschend, who had several health aliments over the last few years, is survived by his wife Melissa, five children, and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Branson. A private burial will be held at a later date.
