Dates set for spring 2019 Branson city election

The Missouri Secretary of State has set the spring local election day as April 2, 2019. Registered voters in Branson will be able to vote for the mayor and alderman representing their ward. Each of the city’s three wards will have an alderman on the ballot for a two-year term. There will also be a ward 3 alderman position on the ballot for a one-year term to fill an unexpired term.

The Branson Board of Aldermen consists of six aldermen, two from each ward, and the mayor. Each of these is elected for two-year terms. The mayor and aldermen currently holding the seats to be considered in this election are: Mayor – Karen Best, Ward 1 – Bob Simmons, Ward 2 – Cris Bohinc, Ward 3 (1-year term) – Brian Clonts and Ward 3 (2-year term) – Kevin McConnell.

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted at the Branson City Clerk’s office beginning on December 11, 2018, at 8 a.m. This filing period will close on January 15, 2019, at 5 p.m. Candidates’ names will be placed on the ballot in the order they file their candidacy. For all candidates who file for candidacy on the first day, the order will be determined by a random drawing at the City Clerk’s Office. All candidate filings must be done in person at the City Clerk’s Office.
