Taney County Presiding Commissioner Mike Scofield held off a challenge by Constitution Party candidate David Stottle in Tuesday’s general election. Scofield cruised to victory with nearly 85 percent of the vote. Taney and Stone County residents also supported incumbent Billy Long as 7th District Congressman and Saundra McDowell for State Auditor. Area voters also went along with the state vote approving the “Clean Missouri” Amendment 1, and the Medical Marijuana Amendment Two. Southwest Missouri joined voters statewide in support of a minimum wage increase. Taney Countians cast 20,727 ballots, representing over 56 percent of all registered voters.
