Governor Mike Parsons announced further emergency measures Monday to help relieve the impact of this summer’s drought on Missouri agriculture. Part of the plan includes the creation of a lottery for farmers interested in haying, free of charge, on almost 900 acres of Missouri State Parks lands. Some of that land is located here in western Taney County. Another parcel in our listening area is in southern Douglas County. Farmers interested in the lottery to harvest hay from public lands have until Saturday, August 25th to apply. Lottery results will be announced on Monday, August 27th.
