Peter Herschend returns to the Missouri State Board of Education as his was one of two appointments announced on Tuesday during Governor Mike Parson’s Listening Post Tour around the state.

Herschend, co-founder of Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, formerly Silver Dollar City, Inc.,  had been a member of the State Board from 1991 until last year when former Governor Eric Greitens withdrew his reappointment in a move to put appointees in that would follow his directives including replacing the State’s Education Commissioner.

Herschend, who was present at the Branson Stop on the Tour at the Branson Convention Center explains why he volunteered to return to the State Board.

The other board member appointed is Carol Hallquist of Kansas City. Even though the board still has three openings, the appointments give the board a quorum so they can resume their meetings. The board will have their first meeting since December this Thursday.
