(BRANSON, Mo.) – Young anglers will have opportunities to catch fish and learn about fishing at the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Family Fishing Fair Saturday at Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery near Branson. The event geared for anglers ages 15 and under, will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Sunfish and channel catfish will be stocked in a pond for youngsters to try to catch. In addition, educational stations will help young anglers learn to tie knots, identify the species of fish they can catch on area waters, rig up and cast a fishing pole, cast a fly rod and other fish-related activities. Free goodie bags will be given to all youth participants and there will be a drawing for a rod and reel at the end of the day.
The “Fishin’ Magicians” will perform at noon.
A limited number of loaner fishing poles will be available, but it’s suggested that all anglers bring their own fishing equipment (and cooler, if they plan to keep fish).
Reservations are NOT required for this event.
