Cox Medical Center Branson and Cox South in Springfield are now part of a statewide network of cardiac facilities to provide time-critical diagnosis for STEMI patients. STEMI is the abbreviated term for a specific type of heart attack known as ST-elevated Myocardial Infarction. Cox can provide rapid specific therapies for this potentially lethal condition to improve survival and recovery rates.
The Missouri Department of Health and Human Services created this state-wide system that brings together the 911 response system, ambulance services and hospitals in a coordinated way to provide patients the right care, at the right place, in a timely manner. A total of 55 hospitals across the state make up the new STEMI Center Network.
Cox Branson is designated a Level II facility, while Cox South in Springfield is a Level I treatment center.
