FORSYTH, Mo. – Western Taney County and Central Taney County Fire Protection Districts respond to a natural cover fire Wednesday afternoon, near Highway 160 and Silver Creek Road in Forsyth.
Western Taney County took the initial call and requested mutual aid from Central Taney County at around 2:40 p.m. Central Taney County Fire Training Officer Jeff Romines says the property was recently purchased and the new owner had been clearing, stacking and burning brush piles:
Romines adds the fire could have easily gotten out of hand fast due to the wind and level of humidity. No injuries were reported.
Romines says he wants to remind area residents to contact your local fire department to obtain a burn permit if you’re considering burning a large pile of timber or brush.
