ST. JOE, Ark. – A wildfire in Searcy County, Arkansas is contained thanks to multiple fire departments pitching in to help over the weekend.
According to the Searcy County Sheriff Office, seven structures were lost and two people had to be evacuated from their homes following a fire on Rainbolt Hill near St. Joe.
No injuries are reported but the American Red Cross was on the scene to help any victims.
Near the end of the battle, the Arkansas Forestry Commission used its airplane to douse the flames. It is still unclear where and why the fire started, but inspectors are looking into it.
Five fire departments from Marion County, one fire department from Newton County and at least one fire department from Searcy county assisted.
Officials say folks should be aware that areas of South Mountain are still burning in the area around Rainbolt Hill. Call 911 if you feel you need to, but most of these fires are contained.
