BERRYVILLE, Ark. – A man from Green Forest is sentenced to 16 years in prison in connection with an incident where he attempted to run over two Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputies in February of 2017.

Court records show a now 27-year-old Allen Closner agreed to plead guilty to three felony counts of battery.

He was sentenced to 16 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with 16 years suspended.

Prosecutors had originally charged Closner with attempted capital murder, fleeing, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license.

On February 16th, 2017, Carroll County authorities were called to a home for a separate crime involving drugs and firearms when Closner encountered them.

Major George Frye says one deputy was hit by Closner’s vehicle and had to be sent to receive medical care for treatment to his legs, back and head.

Closner must also pay about 14-hundred dollars in court costs and fees. He was given 410 days credit for time already spent behind bars.
