Parks Dept. to Cut Ribbon on Inclusive Playground

by Sam Clanton

BRANSON, Mo. – The Branson Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the opening of its new inclusive playground at the Branson RecPlex this coming Friday, April 6th at 11 a.m., and everyone is invited to attend.

The first of its kind for the Branson area, the playground is specifically designed for children with special needs, featuring elements that encourage emotional, cognitive and social development, including a sensory wave climber with panels that provide a unique sensory experience.

The Parks department received an initial Show Me Healthy Communities grant totaling more than 70-thousand dollars to begin the project. Donations have also been received from Pat Joyce Family Trust and SummerWinds Resorts, Cox Health and the Generation Rescue autism organization.

Parks Director Cindy Shook says all of the supporting partners will be publicly acknowledged during the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new playground is located near the RecPlex pavilion in the ballfields parking area.
