HARRISON, Ark. – The unofficial results of the special primary runoff and the Alpena School special election are released.
The Republican candidate for the District 16 Senate Seat will be Breanne Davis.
She was favored in Tuesday’s election receiving 131 votes to her opponent Robert “Bob” Bailey’s 58, according to the Arkansas Secretary of State’s website.
Davis will face Democrat Teresa Nichole Gallegos in the special State Senate election May 22. The term will last until 2020.
This position was left vacant after Senator Greg Standridge passed away in November 2016.
As for the Special School Election within the Alpena School District, Boone County Deputy Clerk Becky Benton reports the 3.4 mill property tax to build a new school building failed with 191 votes against and 135 votes for the increase.
