Boone Co. JPs Approve Many Items of Business

HARRISON, Ark. – Boone County Justices of the Peace pass six ordinances at their February meeting.

Making his first appearance since being appointed to the public office, Justice of the Peace Bill Michel filled the District 7 seat, formerly held by Robert Meek, who resigned last year.  Michel had this to say to the room:

As the first matter of business, the court unanimously approved the first reading of an appropriation of about 159-thousand dollars to fund the construction of an evidence and training room for the law enforcement facility.

That money would be taken from the public safety sales tax passed by voters last year.  The work will be done by Davis Construction.

Justices also approved the second reading of an ordinance to purchase 16 Tables for Justices of the Peace at a cost of just over 32-hundred dollars.

On another first reading, JPs approved about 552-thousand dollars to expand the airport parking lot. Airport officials say they have applied for a grant and if they receive it, they will pay the county back.

It was also approved to move 500-thousand dollars into savings for future expenses for Boone County when a necessary or unexpected need arises on its first reading.

Finally, about 92-hundred dollars was approved to replace and set up a new search and rescue command trailer that was totaled recently.
