HARRISON, Ark. – A former pastor from Harrison is sentenced to 32 years in jail after pleading guilty to being a habitual pedophile.
Court records show 37-year-old Larry Berkley made a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty as a habitual offender to four counts of sexual assault in the first degree and seven counts of sexual assault in the second degree.
Originally, he was charged with sexual assault, sexual solicitation, furnishing alcohol to a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and distributing pornography to minors between the dates of March 1st, 2012 and March 31st, 2014.
Deputy Prosecutor Chris Carter says Berkley has proven he is a predatory pedophile who used his position as a pastor to steal money from churches and to buy illicit products for young males in order to seduce them.
Berkley is also sentenced to 35 years in a Tennessee State Prison for rape, statutory rape, and sexual battery convictions out of Tennessee.
While in that case he is allowed parole, he has not been given parole in the Arkansas Case. According to the prosecutor’s report, this ensures Berkley will be behind bars until mid 2049.
