YELLVILLE, Ark. – A man from Yellville receives a five-year sentence in connection with three different attempts to steal a car last summer.

Court records show 25-year-old Leigh Blackmon pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft of property, two counts of breaking and entering, and burglary.

According to Marion authorities, Blackmon’s arrest originally stems from a stolen vehicle out of the parking lot of D&H Tire and Lube in Yellville in August. Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans says it wasn’t long before deputies spotted the stolen car on State Highway 14 and took him into custody.

Blackmon also pleaded guilty in two others cases to breaking into Sunshine Auto in Summit, where investigators believe he attempted to steal a car but was unsuccessful.

He is also connected to the burglary of Schroder’s Tire in Flippin. Both of those offences took place in July.

Blackmon, who is serving his time at a state correctional facility, is also ordered to pay just over 16-hundred dollars in court costs and restitution.
