HARRISON, Ark.  – The former Lovin’ Spoonful musician from Harrison facing 30 counts of possession of child pornography pleads not guilty.

Judge John Putman accepted 74-year-old Jerome Yester’s plea and scheduled his pre-trial hearing for Friday.

According to Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, special agents began investigating Yester after agents determined someone using a computer at his address downloaded sexually explicit material involving children.

The investigative file was then turned over to 14th Judicial District Prosecutor David Etheredge in October.

Yester has now hired local attorney Phillip Moon to defend him in court.  Yester is free on a bond of 35-thousand dollars.

The Lovin’ Spoonful bandmates, best known for the song “Do you Believe in Magic”, says they were as numbed and shocked as the public to hear about these serious charges against Yester. He has since been replaced in the band, according to a release from the band.
