YELLVILLE, Ark. – An early morning pursuit in Marion County, Arkansas ends in the arrest of three people on Thursday.
According to local authorities, Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore called Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans earlier in the week advising him of a stolen car that was thought to be in his district. Deputies arrived at the specified location and say they observed the stolen vehicle leaving the home.
Sheriff Evans says he personally attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however, the car quickly fled.
The report says that after a short pursuit, the car stopped at a dead end street and three people fled on foot. Authorities say two women were immediately captured and after a short time searching, they found the man hidden under some brush near Crooked Creek.
Evans says deputies then arrested 34-year-old Curtis Heptinstall, 37-year-old Dawn Smith, and 23-year-old Amber Wierzgac, all from Boone County.
They are all behind bars in Marion County charged with fleeing and theft by receiving. Assisting the Marion County Sheriff’s Office with the pursuit and search of the male suspect was the Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Game & Fish, and the Flippin Police Department.
In addition, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the interview process.
