AURORA, Mo. – A Pierce City man is arrested and charged with drug trafficking following a pursuit with law enforcement early Monday morning.

Officers recovered approximately 120 grams of suspected methamphetamine from 37-year-old William Hall, after he abandoned the vehicle he was driving and attempted to flee on foot. A female passenger also fled on foot but was not located, according to a release from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, Hall reportedly ran his vehicle through a four-way intersection near Monett, nearly striking a deputy’s patrol car. During a chase that ended in Aurora, the deputy determined the license plates belonged to a stolen vehicle.

The pursuit ended when Hall and the female passenger bailed out of the vehicle while it was still moving. The vehicle continued to roll and stopped when it struck a building, according to the release.

Sheriff Brad Delay says additional charges are pending.

Aurora Police and Missouri State Troopers assisted in the pursuit and apprehension of Hall.
