BRANSON, Mo. – After a brief warm-up today (Friday), area residents can expect a sharp decline in temperatures heading into the new year.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Gene Hatch says a system of arctic air is moving into the region on Saturday, and will be lingering for several days. But he says the chance of wintry precipitation is limited…

Hatch is forecasting highs in the 20s on Saturday, and in the teens on Sunday, with overnight lows in the single digits, or even one or two degrees below zero. He says people should be mindful of the bitter cold temps when they venture outdoors…

Hatch says on average, temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees below normal for the next week. He says extended weather models show the cold air remaining in the area through next weekend.
