Going into the final day of Holiday Tournament Action, both area teams remain alive in the Pink and White Lady Classic at Drury University while all three teams are eliminated from the Blue and Gold Tournament at Missouri State.
In the Pink and White semi-finals, Branson started and finished strong but couldn’t keep up with undefeated Strafford in the second quarter as the Lady Indians get a 69-50 win over the the Lady Pirates at the O’Reilly Family Events Center. The Lady Pirates trailed only 14-10 after one but Strafford took advantage of some turnovers and rolled to a 23-6 second quarter run. The Lady Pirates did make a fourth quarter run and got the lead down to 14 but could get no closer. The anticipated match-up between college prospects Pricilla Williams for Branson and Hayley Frank of Strafford did not disappoint as Williams ended up with 29 points for the Lady Pirates while Frank netted 32 for the Lady Indians. Strafford plays Mount Vernon while Branson will play Clever for third on Friday.
Meanwhile earlier in the day next door at the Weiser Gym, Blue Eye outlasted Willard 70-64 in overtime to advance to the 5th Place game against Kickapoo. The game was close throughout with neither team gaining more than a seven point lead. The Lady Bulldogs made a run in overtime to secure the win behind the 28 points of Kohnnar Patton with Taylor Arnold adding 22. The Lady Bulldogs game with the Lady Chiefs will be at 4:30.
Both tomorrow’s games from the Pink and White will be heard on 106.3 KRZK.
At the Blue and Gold, Branson, Reeds Spring, and Hollister all were eliminated as Pirates lost a 17 point lead and fell to Marshfield 49-47 while the Wolves fell to Hartville 60-48 and the Tigers lost to Hillcrest 81-61.
