Authorities say 20-year-old Anthony Schroder from Meriam Woods crossed the center line traveling southbound on Highway 160, just south of Nixa at 2:30 a.m.
This caused a head-on collision with the northbound vehicle, being driven by 43-year-old Ancelmo Lemus and passenger 48-year-old Maria Lumas, both from Berryville.
The pair from Berryville, who were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, had to be taken by ambulance to Mercy Hosptial in Springfield to be treated for serious injuries.
Schroder also received serious injuries and was taken to Cox Hospital, also in Springfield.
Troopers believe Schroder was seriously intoxicated and is being charged with second-degree assault and felony driving while intoxicated.
