Despite the difference in size of the schools, the Girls Basketball Match-ups between Branson and Blue Eye have always been competitive and the programs first meeting in four years lived up to that at the Pink and White Lady Classic that saw the Lady Pirates rally for a 55-47 win over the Lady Bulldogs at Drury University.
Blue Eye, with a victory over Class 5 Glendale in the opening round of the tournament, took advantage of Branson Foul Trouble to lead for much of the game. Branson’s leading scorer Pricilla Willams was on of the players in foul trouble and held to two first half points. The Lady Bulldogs got a string of three point shots from Kohnnar Patton and Kenedi Larson in the third quarter to build the lead to 12.
Williams however hit a three at the end of the period to cut the lead to nine which started the Lady Pirates on a run. In the fourth quarter, Branson rolled to a 23-6 run and grabbed the lead for good with under two minutes to go to secure the win.
Williams scored 30 of her game high 32 points in the second half with Lauren Garrison adding 9 including a couple of clutch baskets in the final minute of the game. Patton lead Blue Eye with 18 points with Larson adding 16 and Taylor Arnold netting 10 points.
Branson will face undefeated Strafford in the semi-finals Thursday at 4:00 while Blue Eye plays Willard in a consolation game at 12:30. Both games can be heard on 106.3 KRZK.
