EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – The 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa is building an ice skating rink in the coming months.
Jack Moyer, the general manager says people travel year-round now, and the Cresent is open year-round. The hotel’s management says they felt like they needed to do something in the middle of winter.
The hotel will be welcoming anyone and everyone to come and skate. Local children under the age of 12 can skate for free. For everyone else, it’s five dollars. For all hotel guests, the fee is included in their Crescent Hotel Resort Pass.
The rink is located next to the fountain outside of the hotel, where weddings are normally held in the summer, spring, and fall.
The ice rink isn’t quite ready yet for skating, but officials hope it will be ready December 26 or December 27. Once the rink is ready, it will be open daily from 5-7 p.m.
The rink is supposed to hold about 20 people, and they especially want to attract kids. Once the rink freezes, people of all ages can skate when the temperature is below 45 degrees outside.
The rink is scheduled to be open this February.
