WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Energy Information Administration is predicting renewables to increase their share of electric generation and capacity in 2018.

Cogan’s report goes on to say the EIA’s forecast also expects wind and solar utility-scale generating capacity to increase. He adds the EIA predicts wind capacity to rise from 88 gigawatts in 2017 to 96 gigawatts in 2018, while solar capacity increases from 27 to 30 gigawatts in 2018.
