BRANSON, Mo. – The Branson Police Department announces its participation is the annual nationwide Holiday DWI Enforcement Crackdown “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
Now through Monday, January 1st, 2018 the Branson Police Department will have officers aggressively looking for substance-impaired drivers during the crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.
Having a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher and getting behind the wheel of a vehicle is illegal in all 50 States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Police Chief Stan Dobbins reports during the 2016 Christmas and New Year’s Eve holiday, from December 15th, 2016 to January 1st, 2017, there were 44 fatalities and 193 serious injuries, which seven fatalities and 14 serious injuries involved at least one substance-impaired driver.
The effective nationwide substance-impaired driving crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement and will be supported through national paid advertising, creating a comprehensive campaign to curb substance-impaired driving over the Holiday DWI Enforcement Crackdown.
