BRANSON, Mo. – A local camp helping kids with special needs receives its biggest gift yet thanks to a certain Texas Ranger pitcher and his wife.
Cole Hamels and his wife, Heidi, officially donated a home on Table Rock Lake to Camp Barnabas, a charity working with disadvantaged and special needs kids. Chief Development Officer for Camp Barnabas Krystal Simon:
Over the past 24 years, Camp Barnabas has welcomed more than 75- thousand children and missionaries to camp.
The non-profit has two locations, one near Shell Knob and the other near Purdy, Missouri, dedicated to providing life-changing experiences to individuals with special needs and chronic illnesses as well as their siblings.
While the property is unfinished, Simons says Camp Officials do not have plans to complete the work just yet. However, she says they do plan on keeping the property maintained and zoned as residential for now.
According to a release sent by the Hamels Foundation, Cole Hamels says he and his wife felt called to help out Camp Barnabas in a big way.
