Update: Plane Crash Victims Identified as Kansas Residents

BRANSON WEST, Mo. – The two people killed in a small plane crash Sunday evening, near the Branson West Airport are identified.

Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader reports the occupants have been identified as pilot 52-year-old Keith Curtis and passenger 45-year-old Dawn Curtis, both of Gardner, Kansas. Both aircraft occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by the Stone County Coroner.

The crash occurred in a pasture at 1974 Yocum Pond Road, which is approximately one mile from the airport. Sheriff Rader says the airplane was a 1968 Piper Singe Engine Aircraft:

 

 

Rader says it will be up to the Federal Aviation Administration out of Kansas City to determine the cause of the crash. He adds the sheriff’s department is on site to secure the scene until the FAA arrival and to assist them with the investigation.

The Southern Stone County Fire Protection District and the Missouri Highway Patrol provided mutual aid at the scene.
