BRANSON WEST, Mo. – Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi are playing Santa in a big way this year. The couple is donating a large home on Table Rock Lake to Camp Barnabas, a charity that works with disadvantaged and special needs kids.
The 32-thousand square feet house along with 100 acres of property along DD Highway in Stone County is the largest donation ever made to the charity.
In a news release, Chief Development Officer Krystal Simon says this incredible gift will allow Camp Barnabas to further its ministry and change thousands of lives for years to come.
Over the past 24 years, the non-profit has welcomed more than 75-thousand campers and missionaries. Camp Barnabas has two locations, one near Shell Knob and the other near Purdy, both dedicated to providing life-changing experiences to individuals with special needs and chronic illnesses, as well as their siblings.
In making the donation, Hamels said there are a lot of amazing charities in Southwest Missouri, but Camp Barnabas really pulled on their heartstrings.
An upcoming press conference will formally acknowledge the gift.
