Washburn Man Cited for DWI Following Hometown Crash

WASHBURN, Mo. – A man from Washburn is cited for Driving While Intoxicated following his single vehicle crash Wednesday night, in Barry County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 52-year-old Michael Benton was traveling westbound on Highway 90, three miles east of Washburn at 6:25 p.m., when he ran his vehicle off of the roadway and overturned.

Benton was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Life Flight to be treated for his serious injuries.

According to the online arrest report, Benton is being charged for DWI and for Not Wearing a Seatbelt.
