MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – A man from Mountain Home is dead and another man accused of the murder is now in custody.

Authorities say 59-year-old Robert Penny from Mountain Home is facing first-degree murder for the death of 71-year-old Chester Hornowski, also from Mountain Home.

Investigators say Hornowski was found at his home with gunshot wounds to the hands, chest and face.

Baxter County authorities say they received a call about a shooting at 50-97 Old Military Road at around 8:30 on Tuesday morning.

Baxter County Deputies and State Troopers arrived at the house just in time to find the suspect, later identified as Penny, attempting to escape the scene in a pickup truck.

His vehicle became airborne two different occasions during the short chase but eventually crashed into a Deputy’s Chevy Tahoe.

Penny was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries but was later taken to the Baxter County Jail.

He is being held without bond before his first court appearance on December 14th.
