FLIPPIN, Ark. – Jail logs show former Flippin Police Chief Dusty Smith was taken into custody on Monday.

Marion County’s inmate roster shows deputies arrested 38-year-old Ronald Dustin Smith from Flippin.

While electronic court records have not been filed detailing the incident, the jail logs show he was booked for theft of property.

According to other news outlets in Baxter County, Smith was fired from the Department on November 2nd via text message. The report says an administrative assistant Nicole Moore was also fired from her position that day via text.

Court records show Smith had to step down as police chief last year, after being accused of unlawfully arresting someone. That case was settled for about 20-thousand dollars.

Jail logs show Smith had a bond of 5-thousand dollars but he bonded out about 20 minutes after being booked. He will appear in court for arraignment on December 12th.
