C of O Teams Nationally Ranked

by: Scott McCaulley

The College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats high expectations entering the 2017-18 basketball season earned them a high preseason ranking while not much was known about the potential for the Bobcats which did not get them any recognition in the NAIA Division Two Men’s Preseason Poll. The situation has changed for both teams as the first Regular Season Poll released Tuesday indicates.

The Lady Bobcats, off to a 9-0 start for the season rises two spots into a tie for the Number Four Spot in the latest rankings while the Bobcats, winners of eight in a row after losing their opening game of the season, comes in this week at 17th.

Saint Xavier, Concordia, and Southeastern of Florida are the top three with the Lady Bobcats tied with Marian in the four spot.

The Men’s Top Five are Northwestern of Iowa, Cornerstone, Saint Francis, Indiana Wesleyan, and Indiana Tech.

Both C of O teams return to action next Tuesday at Evangel. Among the other games on the schedule before Christmas for the Lady Bobcats include a match-up against NAIA Division One Nationally Ranked Columbia on December 8 plus a home game on December 19 against Concordia. The Bobcats will play at home on December 8 against Ecclesia before going to Florida for a classic December 21-22 .
