The Branson Pirates knew coming in that containing Lebanon Running Back John Berry would be a key in their Class 5 District Semi-final Football Match-up Friday night.
Berry did succeed in setting the Lebanon Career Yardage record but scored only once while his fellow running back Hunter Bray ended up doing most of the damage in the Yellow Jackets 50-22 win that ended the season for the Pirates. Bray scored five of Lebanon’s 7 scores and had a key 70 yard run in the first quarter that led to another to fuel the home team.
The Pirates held tough in the first half grabbing the first score of the game and also getting the lead back for a time in the second quarter but couldn’t keep up with the Yellow Jacket ground attack that dominated the game. The Pirates did get two Ryan Still touchdown passes to Ty Werling and Karson Knudson along with a Nick Pead run to account for their points.
Branson finishes their first season under Anthony Hayes with a 4-7 record.
