HARRISON, Ark. – The Boone County Quorum Court discusses the impending continuation of a quarter-percent sales tax to fund the jail.

During the regular meeting, the Justices of the Peace discussed and unanimously spoke about supporting the sales tax in hopes voters would feel the same way.
Boone County Judge Robert Hathaway made this prewritten statement to the public in attendance.

Sheriff Mike Moore added to the discussion with these comments:

A Boone County man, Bob Dickson, made a statement during the meeting saying he felt the county officials were using fear to make citizens vote to continue the sales tax, without giving them all the information. Justice of the Peace Sam Tinsley responded by saying “this is the reality.”

The special election over the continuation of quarter-percent sales tax will be held on August 9th.
