HARRISON, Ark. – A man from Harrison is looking at several felony charges stemming from his former position as the Director of the Harrison Housing Authority from 2012 to 2014.
Authorities say 31-year-old Derek White has been under investigation, after several thousand dollars were unaccounted for in the Housing Authority’s budget from that year. According to Harrison Police Chief Paul Woodruff, a special prosecuting attorney was needed for the case, causing the delay of an arrest and formal charges.
The Prosecuting Attorney Jack McQuary has now filed felony charges against White including one count of theft, one count of forgery, and 13 counts of attempt to evade or defeat tax.
White was taken to jail for the charges on Tuesday and post his bond of 10-thousand dollars that day. A new court date for him has not yet been set.
