Injured Passenger, Drivers ID’d in Nixa Bus Crash

NIXA, Mo. – One child is treated for minor injuries following a rear-end collision involving a school bus belonging to the Nixa Parks Department.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, the bus driven by 69-year-old John Missildine of Nixa was stopped at a traffic signal in the northbound lane of Highway 160 two miles south of Nixa at 9:10 this (Wednesday) morning, when it was struck from behind by a northbound car driven by 18-year-old Kaitlyn Stewart of Nixa.

The injured passenger on the bus is identified as Hunter Jensen, unknown age, who was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

According to the City of Nixa, the bus was carrying 47 children along with four staff members at the time of the accident. The children were on an outing to see a movie in Springfield as part of the parks department’s Summer It Up program.

No other injuries are reported. Nixa firefighters assisted state troopers at the scene.
