HARRISON, Ark. – A man from Hollister is facing several charges in Boone County after leading police on nearly a 50-mile-long pursuit.
Jail logs show 37-year-old Justin Wallace is charged with theft by receiving, running a red light on two accounts, reckless driving, fleeing, resisting arrest, no proof of liability insurance, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and speeding 20 miles per hour over the posted limit.
Taney County Sheriff Jimmie Russell says just before 7 a.m. on Monday, a deputy attempted to stop Wallace’s vehicle on Highway 160, as it matched the description of a stolen vehicle reported by the Hollister Police Department.
Russell says when the deputy turned on his emergency lights, the vehicle slowed for a passenger to jump out, then headed south on U-S 65, traveling at a high rate of speed all the way to Arkansas.
Russell says Arkansas authorities continued to pursue Wallace and were able to stop the vehicle south of Harrison.
Wallace is currently being held in the Boone County Detention Center. As of news time, the Taney County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet filed charges against Wallace, or the unidentified passenger who was arrested after leaving the vehicle.
