BERRYVILLE, Ark. – The Carroll County Sherriff’s Department may be going under further state investigation, after two deputies fail a lie detector test about 8-hundred dollars missing from a man who was arrested.

Traffic records show Neil Zabel from Harrison was pulled over by Deputies Justin Snyder and Janet Galland the night of May 7th, on Highway 21 north or Urbanette.

According to the police report, Zabel claims he had 8-hundred dollars in the passenger seat of the car, when he was arrested that night for DWI. Zebel told investigators the next day the money was gone.

Zebel, Deputy Jeremy Berner- an officer tasked with taking inventory of the car-, Snyder, and Galland were all given polygraph tests by a state investigator following the theft claim.

Snyder and Galland did not pass and were given the opportunity to resign, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Randy Mayfield says Snyder and Galland did resign on June 2nd.

Court records show no charges have been pressed on either former deputies. Zebel has not had made a plea for his DWI charge.

County prosecutors say they have inquired about further investigation into how the issue was handled.
