HOLLISTER, Mo. – An investigation conducted by the Hollister Police Department results in charges being filed against a Hollister School District staff member for allegedly having sex with an underage girl.

Thirty-four-year-old Calvin Thomas is charged with two counts of statutory rape. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, with his bond set at 50-thousand dollars cash or surety.

According to Police Chief Preston Schmidt, the investigation that began last Friday, June 24th, revealed Thomas had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old juvenile female on more than one occasion.

Schmidt says although charges have been filed, the investigation is still considered open, and additional charges may be forth coming.

A release from the Hollister School District does not specifically name Thomas, but says a staff member has been placed on a leave of absence and barred from being on school premises and from having contact with students.

The release goes on to say the school district is working with local law enforcement officials in the investigation, and if the staff member is found guilty as charged, the district will make every effort to see that their teaching certificate is revoked.
