Press Release

Harrison, Ark. – Sheriff Mike Moore is happy to share with the community how well the Boone County Jail garden is doing and already producing.

We have increased our garden size by about ½ acre for the 2016 growing season.  This has allowed us to plant more cabbage, tomatoes, okra and squash by devoting the new ground for corn production.

As of June 15, we have harvested 156 lbs. of lettuce; 7 lbs. banana peppers; 185 heads of cabbage; 231 lbs. of greens and 56 lbs. of squash.  Much more is on the way!

We want to say a special thank you to Jody, Richard, Robert, Kevin, Jeremy, and Carl, our State 309 Inmates for doing such a good job with the garden.
