Shell Knob Woman Killed By Runaway Truck in Barry County

SHELL KNOB, Mo. – A woman from Shell Knob is struck and killed by a runaway truck Thursday afternoon, in Barry County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports an unoccupied truck began rolling backwards down a driveway at 26595 Villa Vinee Circle, in Shell Knob at 2:30 p.m., and collided into 68-year-old Bobbie Harris.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Becky Davison. As the vehicle was rolling back, it also collided into 77-year-old Judith Betts of Shell Knob. Betts was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield to be treated for minor injuries.

Troop D reports this incident as its 51st vehicle involved fatality accident for 2016.
