HUNTSVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department announces work will start this week on the first stoplight in Madison County.
Officials say the electronic traffic signal will be at the intersection of Lee Street and Highway 23 in Huntsville to alleviate school traffic.
While A-H-T-D had originally announced the work would begin in February, crews from Ewing Signal Construction, the company tasked with the 156-thousand dollar project, ran into some scheduling conflicts, according to the release. Highway Officials say the work should still be done before school starts up in August.
Madison is one of five counties in Arkansas that do not yet have electric traffic signals.
