Benefit Slated for Hollister Family

by Debbie Redford

HOLLISTER, Mo. – Friends and coworkers are rallying to help a Hollister family experiencing a medical setback by hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, June 5th.

Oscar Joe is a 47-year-old husband and father of four who was diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell cancer back in April. Doctors are unable to operate on a tumor on his kidney and as a result, Oscar and his wife Amy will be driving back and forth to Barnes Jewish Hospital for his treatments.

He is unable to work at this time, leaving his wife as the sole provider for the family.

The fundraiser will run from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Upper Deck Grille at the Branson Meadows shopping center. A silent and live auction will begin at 6 p.m.

All proceeds from the sale of food and drink will be donated to the family. Attendees will be able to purchase Japanese lanterns and write encouraging words for the family on them. They will be lit and released in Oscar’s honor at 8:30 p.m.

Auction items include: two certifications ($395 each) and two discover scuba classes ($90 each) from White River Dive Company; Royals tickets, hotel stays, show tickets, salon services, photography packages and much more.
