BRANSON, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation is giving young anglers the opportunity to catch fish and learn all about fishing at its Family Fishing Fair on June 11th, at the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery in Branson.
Participants can fish for bluegill and channel catfish out of a specially stocked pool and visit educational stations teaching how to tie knots, filet and cook fish, rig up and cast a fishing pole and much more.
All youth participants will also be given free goodie bags and have the chance to win a rod and reel combo at the end of the day. A limited number of loaner fishing gear will be available to use, so able families are asked to bring their own gear and fish coolers if they wish to keep their fish.
This free event is for kids ages 15 and under, and runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information on this event can be found here.
